Pita bread is versatile – use it as a pizza base.

Here's a few Halloween foodie tricks for guests of all ages:

Monster Pitas

Take a pita and add a generous layer of tomato pasta sauce and grated cheddar cheese topping, black olives for eyes, a slice of pepper for a ghostly grin and bake in the oven on 220C/200C fan for around 10 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Roasted Pumpkin Pita Sandwich

Created and photographed for Mamoosh by Cygnet Kitchen.

A truly scrumptious filling perfect for Halloween and packed full of autumn flavours! Certain to become an all-time favourite.

Serves 2

  • 225g fresh pumpkin or butternut squash, de-seeded and sliced (skin can be left on)
  • 1-2 tbs olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • Pinch of crushed chilli (optional)
  • 2 Mamoosh pitas
  • 1-2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • Small handful of rocket leaves
  • 1-2 tablespoons fresh pesto
  • 2 tablespoons toasted pumpkin seeds

Heat oven to 220C / 200C fan. Put the pumpkin slices on an oven tray and toss with the olive oil, cumin seeds and chilli to coat, season with salt and pepper.

Roast for 20-30 minutes or until pumpkin is soft and golden brown on both sides.

Cut the pitas in half to make pockets, spread with mayonnaise and fill with the cooked pumpkin. Top with rocket, drizzle with pesto and sprinkle over the pumpkin seeds. Serve immediately.

Turning hummus into black art

Hummus is perfectly matched to our delicious pita bread. For Halloween, transfer it to a cauldron-shaped bowl and use black with food colouring or black sesame seeds to create a scary face on the surface of the hummus. Cut your pita bread into triangles and surround the cauldron to impress your guests!

Ghostly pita bread chips

Using a cookie cutter, cut the pita bread into ghost shapes and brush them with olive oil sprinkled with salt and your favourite herbs. Bake them until crispy in the oven and serve them with a healthy dip like salsa or tzatziki.

Use your imagination and offer some traditional fayre such as pumpkin soup, but mix this up, add an element of excitement and a few creative tricks in the kitchen, and it will be a party to remember.

Order your pitas online in time for Halloween.

Remember to order your pitas in plenty of time. Not only do they offer endless possibilities for creating delicious Halloween snacks, but they freeze beautifully and defrost in next to no time. Keep a supply in the freezer, and you will never run out.

Have a very happy and safe Halloween, everyone!
